Last night the River Grove Board of Directors held an emergency meeting to discuss the school’s mask/face covering policy. Effective Wednesday, September 1st, all River Grove teachers, staff, students, and visitors to River Grove are required to wear face coverings, regardless of vaccination status, while indoors. Previously distributed waivers to this policy will not be honored at this time. The Board will consider reinstating those type of waivers once community transmission of COVID returns to a “moderate” or “low” level as defined by the CDC.
UPDATED WAIVERS EFFECTIVE 9/1/21
However, waivers will be allowed for students with documented health conditions, disabilities, mental health needs, developmental or behavioral needs. Documentation from a licensed health provider or an accommodation as specified in an Individual Education Plan (IEP) must accompany the waiver. Waivers can be accessed here; they will be automatically sent to the health office.
- Please contact the front office at email@example.com if you anticipate a delay in gathering the supporting documents from your health care professional.
Face coverings will not be required during time spent outdoors. The school educational team anticipates spending the majority of the day outside (weather permitting) during the fall season.
The school remains committed to creating the safest possible environment for our students and staff and believes the masking requirement will allow us to keep students learning in person as much as possible, which we know is in the best interest of all children.
The COVID-19 pandemic and its effect on schools continues to be a challenge to River Grove and our community. We continue to thank you for your support and grace as we navigate this challenging time together. Please do not hesitate to reach out to me with any questions or concerns.
